Requirements : |
Safety Manager for a Cement Company in Saudi Arabia in charge of two Safety Engineers, Safety Section, Hofuf and Ain Dar will be placed in our clients Head Office at Dammam.
Preference will be accorded to candidates with successful track records in large, profit-oriented cement companies (preferably from Associated Cement Company (ACC), Gujarat Ambuja Cement, Grassim Cement etc). It is best that applicants for the above posting be relatively young in age with proven excellence in their work experience. They must be open-minded and be able to cope with leading employees of varied nationalities. Must be technology oriented in their respective fields with ample knowledge in the use and exploitation of modern, up to date computer systems and applications.

| Basic Function : |
Recommends and/or implements measures designed to create, develop and maintain a safe work environment to guard workers from against industrial injuries resulting from accidents or occupational related diseases. Takes appropriate measures designed to assist respective plant organizations in preventing damage and/or loss of Company property through fire or accidents. Develops programs to promote safety awareness and consciousness amongst all plant based employees. Organizes and controls a comprehensive fire prevention and control service on a 24 hour/day basis.

| Duties Performed : |
Conducts inspections of the various work sites at the plant and prepares notices of safety related corrective actions that are required to be taken up the respective organizations. Follows up to ensure that corrective actions are implemented to eliminate potential work hazards. Reports to assigned supervisor areas where corrective actions are not implemented.
Develops a Safety Policy and Procedures Manual designed to highlight the Company's Safety related policies and the procedures required in achieving such goals and policies.
Develops various safety programs designed to develop adequate levels of safety awareness amongst employees. Such programs should be designed to make the employee aware of specific safety hazards and methods, means and working habits required to avoid such hazards that might result in personal injury and/or loss of property.
Investigates all reported work related accidents, prepares a detailed report on the causes that lead to the accidents and recommends corrective steps required to be taken in preventing recurrence .
Maintains appropriate records and statistics that will enable the effective monitoring of trends in work related accidents so that greater emphasis could be placed on measures designed to eliminate particular hazardous conditions and/or work practices that might be contributing factors to the frequency of accidents. Includes the preparation of appropriate reports require for insurance claims that might be required as a result of fires and/or industrial accidents. Submits periodic safety reports and statistics to assigned supervisor.
Develops and operates a comprehensive fire prevention and control program that includes the design of specific and appropriate instructions in the use of operating appropriately rated fire extinguishers for specific fire types.
Ensure that appropriate quantities and types of safety equipment, supplies and apparatus are available at the Fire Station. Also ensures that fire extinguishers are properly located at various points at the plant site. Includes periodic inspection of fire extinguishers to ensure that they are preperly charged. Arranges for the recharging of fire extinguishers as and when necessary.
Ensures that all fire fighting equipment including the fire truck and its auxiliary equipment such as hydrants, hose reels and extinguishers are kept in good working order and ready for use at any time of day or night.
Trains Firemen in the correct use of available fire extinguishing media and the right techniques in fire fighting including salvage and rescue operations in case of fire.
Establishes appropriate levels of contact with Civil Defense authorities and nearby fire brigades of Companies for purposes of cooperation in case of large fires that require external assistance.

| Work Contacts : |
Regular contacts with senior personnel at middle management level and occasionally with Department Heads for following up on safety related corrective actions.
Occasional contacts with representative of local Civil Defense Authority and fire brigades of nearby Companies.

| Independence of Operation : |
Reports to General Manager of both the plants.
Works according to established procedures and professional safety standards.
Completed work assignments are subject to review by assigned supervisor.

| Minimum Requirements : |
a) Completion of University education with a major related to industrial loss prevention.
b) 20-25 years experience in safety functions of a large industrial Company, preferably a similar industry.
c) Good knowledge of English.
d) Driving License for light motor vehicles (Saudi License will have to be obtained eventually).
